Listened 6 times last night, and fully basked in the glow. My expectations for this album were not sky high which really just made this all the better. There really isn't a bad cut on here, but here are my favorites. Note: I'm not including "Otis" because we've all done it to death, but it is a standout track on an album full of standout tracks.
The Throne - No Church in the Wild ft. Frank Ocean
-No surprise that both the Frank Ocean tracks are incredible, but this is the first track on the album and once it grabs you, you're in for the whole ride. What's a god to a non-believer?
The Throne - Gotta Have It
-My favorite track on the album, though its not an easy call. The James Brown samples are juuuust friggin' perfect, and the Jay/Ye trade offs left my head all blown up. Racks on racks on racks (racks) Maybachs on 'Bachs on 'Bachs on 'Bachs on 'Bachs...
The Throne - Who Gon' Stop Me
-I had heard whispers about some dubstep being involved, and was highly skeptical, but this track hits. So many watches I need eight arms...
The Throne - Murder To Excellence
-Anybody who listened to The Blueprint knows how good Jay sounds on a Swizz Beatz track. This is the best beat on the album, but the second half of the track is too complementary for words. 314 soldiers died in Iraq, Five hundred nine died in Chicago...
